Just One Victory

All the parents and children met in park to have costumes adjusted and face painting. This is Connie at the start of the event. I am not sure which 101 Dalmatian she is supposed to be but the tongue looks brilliant, well done face painters. The procession took an hour around the town great for those sitting on the float or driving in a sporty red car (picture coming) not so good for the rest of the school who had to walk, big cheer to all of you. What a turn out the whole town has turned out and great weather too, the streets are lined with people. The park is absolutely swamped with revellers when we return. We unload the float of little children and make are way to the judging arena.
We Won! Congratulations to all at the school and involved with and on the fringes. The best Carnival Float went to my children's school. My eldest daughter at 5 and three quarters is just beginning to understand the nature of competitiveness. I am sure that if I was not that bothered about a victory in the local carnival float parade she would not be either. I also suspect that all the parents are uttering a silent (c'mon, easy, easy, easy) cheer under their breath. I for one am over the moon and it was quite clear from the outset that we all (the parents) meant to be the best we could be.

After the weeks of planning from the "friends" of the school and how time consuming it has been for some I was amazed to see another competitor (in the local carnival float competition) putting their float together that very morning. I knew then we were in with chance.

I am in sunny Birmingham (in the Bull Ring and there is actually a bull outside) just about to go off to my all day job shooting the Nation Festival for Music for Youth.
