The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect

Happy New Year 2010

The picture above is of the rock group The New York Dolls. They reformed a couple of years ago and recently made their fourth studio album produced by the man who did their first back in 1973, Todd Rundgren. This was taken on the Friday of my diverse weekend of photography.

Rock n Roll  photography is great fun and a real buzz. You need the stamina of a mile runner and the ability to muscle in to get your spot and to be able to focus the camera(s) in the dark.  I work off  two camera bodies one with a wide angle 16mm to 35mm f2.8 and the other a 70mm to 200mm  f2.8 zoom lens. You do not have time to change lenses so you have to have your selection right and these work for me. There are usually rules associated with photographing the band and simply they are; no flash and first three songs only.
